Summary
We aim to characterise the genomes of patients with a type of slow-growing cancer of the bone marrow – myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) – in order to better understand the genetic events that cause MPNs. Some of these cases are familial, and we have entered a number of families into the NIHR BioResource study for whole genome sequencing. We would now like to study these further. Specifically, we are planning to combine whole genome sequencing data of MPN patients with experimental data describing which parts of the genome are activated in MPNs. This integrated approach will enable us to get more insight into the underlying genetic cause of MPNs
