Summary
The aim of this study was to conduct large scale analysis of genetic information from people with and without certain types of cancer. This is part of a larger international effort to genotype ~400,000 samples in studies of five different cancer types (breast, prostate, colorectal, lung and ovary), including ~70,000 cases and 70,000 controls for breast cancer. This is part of the SEARCH study, the largest breast cancer study in the UK,
and the Cambridge BioResource provided the control group.
Participation: Genetic data from 2,000 female participants from the Cambridge BioResource was provided as controls for comparison with patients with breast cancer.
Organisation: This study is organised by Professor Douglas Easton at the Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology at the University of Cambridge.
