Summary
This reach study is looking at the role of inflammatory and immunological variations in Parkinson’s disease. The main focus of this study is to investigate whether variations between individuals can affect how fast the progression of dementia occurs in this disorder. Healthy volunteers from the Cambridge BioResource were invited to take part in this study and their blood samples compared with those of patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Participation: 17 volunteers attended 3 appointments over the course of 2 months to give 50ml of blood at each visit. Height weight and blood pressure were also measured.
Organisation: This study was organised by Dr Caroline Williams-Gray at the John Van Geest Centre for Brain Repair and the Department of Neurology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
